Beyond the Coursebook: 4 Experiential Workshops for Foreign Language Teachers
Do you also feel it is time to take our teaching… beyond the coursebook?
At Big Bang Language Lab, we have designed 4 experiential workshops focusing on authentic language, literature, creativity and active student participation.
The goal? To leave not only with fresh ideas, but also with practical techniques and ready-to-use printable materials you can bring into your classroom the very next day.
Who are the workshops for?
Teachers of all foreign languages — English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and more.
The examples and case studies are mainly based on English, but the methodologies, tools and techniques can be adapted to any language you teach.
4 workshops — with practical classroom applications
Workshop 1 | Phonics & Early Literacy
Sunday 18/10/2026 · 10:00–13:00
How can we help young learners develop phonological awareness and decoding skills through multisensory techniques, decodable readers and hands-on activities?
Workshop 2 | Literature & Implicit Grammar
Sunday 01/11/2026 · 10:00–13:00
How can children’s literature become a powerful tool for language learning? We work with authentic stories, implicit grammar and scaffolding techniques to make grammar meaningful within the right context.
Workshop 3 | Project-Based Learning (PBL) & Literature
Sunday 15/11/2026 · 10:00–14:00
We turn language into a tool for creativity and communication. We learn how to design projects that develop critical thinking, collaboration and active language use.
Workshop 4 | CLIL in Action
Sunday 22/11/2026 · 10:00–14:00
Science, Geography and History become part of the language lesson. We work with the 3-Step Inquiry Loop — Question → Experimentation → Theory — and explore how language and content can work together in practice.
