🏺✨ When History Becomes Creation – A Journey into Ancient Greek Pottery

As part of the thematic unit “Art in Antiquity,” the students explored the unique art of pottery. Through texts and images of ancient vessels, they discovered that these were not only everyday objects but also valuable “narratives” of their time.

The depictions provided insights into daily life, customs, celebrations, competitions, and the myths of the people of ancient Greece. Next, they observed the process of creating a vessel and understood how clay, with technique, patience, and imagination, transforms into a work of art.

Then came the hands-on moment. The children applied what they had learned and, with enthusiasm and creativity, experimented with clay and created their own vessels.

Through such experiences, knowledge connects with practice and creation. Learning becomes a living process that cultivates imagination, initiative, and creative thinking.
