🏛️ An immersive experience in Athens during the Classical period
Our children’s immersive experience of Athens in classical times includes:
- A guided tour of the Acropolis Museum and the Acropolis
- A walk through the narrow streets of Plaka to help them understand how Athens developed around the Acropolis
- A visit to Hellenic Cosmos, where the children took a virtual tour of Pericles’ Athens in the 5th century B.C. to complete their picture of Classical Greece
On the day of the visit to the Acropolis, they had the opportunity to relax in a beautiful park at the foot of the sacred rock, where they played and had fun, and to return the favor, they cleaned up the area before we left.
This is how we strive to introduce our students to the relationship between humans and their environment.
The highlight of this experience is always the visit to the Academy of Athens. The goal is for students to engage with the intellectual world of our country, which today constitutes an “invisible” part of society, while it should be promoted as a bearer of aesthetics, values, and knowledge.
It is impressive how enthusiastically the students respond, following with great interest Ms. Irini Tsouri’s excellent guided tour of the Academy’s main hall and library, with its rare books and maps.
The program also includes walks in Syntagma Square, the National Garden, and the Monument to the Unknown Soldier.
An important part of the trip is teaching the children proper behavior on buses, in hotels, and in restaurants, as civility is how we conduct ourselves in the places we visit.
