Creating a Food Forest at Big Bang School through Erasmus+ NBS4School

At Big Bang School, we believe that meaningful learning happens when children connect with nature through real-life experiences.

As part of the Erasmus+ Nature-Based Solutions for Schools (NBS4School) programme, our students actively participated in creating a 300 m² Food Forest on our school campus.

With approximately 300 plants representing 40 different species, this unique space is evolving into a living outdoor classroom where children discover biodiversity, soil, water, ecosystems and sustainability through hands-on learning.

By planting, observing and caring for nature, students develop environmental awareness while strengthening essential skills such as collaboration, responsibility, curiosity and critical thinking.

Every tree, every flower and every small discovery reminds our students that caring for nature is one of the most powerful ways to build a more sustainable future.

The project is part of the European NBS4School initiative, which promotes Nature-Based Solutions as innovative educational tools that connect schools with the environment and inspire the next generation of responsible global citizens.
