The boy on the road to Vovousa...
Here is what a parent of one of our campers saw in a photo from the summer camp that was shared in the parents’ group chat. Impressive perspective and analysis!
"Well, I don’t know who this player is (in the photo), but this picture deserves an award.
In this photo, you see a child, dressed in colorful innocence – patterned shorts, a blue T-shirt, sneakers – walking alone on the road, following a group of children. On his back, a backpack with a dinosaur and a small stuffed animal hanging from it, perhaps to remind him of something from home. And in his hand, a few flowers he picked himself, like a child’s offering of love or simply something that seemed beautiful to him along the way. His hat resembles that of a little commando – not someone going to war, but someone just beginning the battle of life with curiosity and courage.
The trip to Vovousa, it seems to me, is not just an adventure; it is something that will help shape who he will become. There, he learns to trust his step, to observe, to belong – and to slowly move away from the warmth of home in order to discover his own path.
So, in this moment, frozen in time, you see the purest face of childhood: fragile yet brave, alone yet full of promise. A boy with a hat, flowers in his hand, and a road full of light ahead of him.
Congratulations to the ladies of the school (and the gentlemen too 😁)."

If parents are able to truly understand all this, then it is truly worthwhile and there is hope for the salvation of the child—that is, of the human being.
